Make something uniquely yours and learn about pottery! Youth aged 6-15 years can handbuild their own ornaments in this 90 minute workshop. Come to Colorado Adventure Point where a skilled instructor from Stone Bear Studios will guide students through creating 2D and/or 3D ornaments. Techniques covered include: pinch pots, slab manipulation, decoration, and more!

Once your piece is complete, you’ll choose a glaze and we’ll take care of the firing. Please allow 2-5 weeks for us to complete your pieces. We will do everything we can to get these back to you prior to December 25th. Once completed, pieces will be available for pickup at Colorado Adventure Point or Stone Bear Studios based on your preference indicated at the workshop.

Instructor Intro
Matt threw his first piece of pottery at age 11 at Mudslinger's Studio in his hometown of Louisville, CO. After making one dented bowl in high school (gotta make sure people don't bump your wareboards, folks!), he studied theatre performance and studio art, focusing on ceramics and printmaking at Lawrence University ('13) in Appleton, WI.

After undergrad, Matt worked as a studio tech and kids' instructor at the Northern Clay Center, made production pottery at Dock 6 Pottery, received a post-Bacc certificate in ceramics (MN NICE '17), taught high school ceramics, office managed an architecture/interior design firm, taught and managed an independent pottery studio, bartended in several places, acted in many shows, and finally opened Stone Bear Studios in 2022.

Matt enjoys colorful whimsy, brain-breaking puzzles and games, delicious foodstuffs and beverages, and is very grateful to everyone who has made the dream of Stone Bear a reality.
