Summer 2027 Wood Badge Course Registration

Experience Wood Badge in an immersive week-long format during the Summer 2027 course at McNeil Scout Ranch. Led by Course Director Bill Plaehn and Senior Patrol Leader Mike Duncan, this unique course offers participants the opportunity to fully engage in Scouting’s highest-level leadership training while building lasting friendships and leadership skills.

The Summer 2027 course runs concurrently with NYLT Session 1 and will take place:

June 6–11, 2027

This extended format allows participants to dive deeply into team development, servant leadership, communication strategies, and vision-based leadership in a dynamic camp environment. Wood Badge combines Scouting traditions with proven leadership concepts that help leaders inspire others, strengthen teams, and create positive change within their units and communities.

Special accommodations will be made for adults traveling with NYLT youth participants. Adults arriving Sunday morning with youth attending NYLT Session 1 will have flexible arrival arrangements available, as NYLT youth check-in will begin mid-morning.

Wood Badge is not an outdoor skills course; instead, it focuses on leadership growth through practical application, engaging presentations, patrol activities, and meaningful reflection. Leaders from packs, troops, crews, districts, and councils all benefit from the shared experiences and collaborative learning environment.

Participants should plan to complete all required pre-course assignments prior to arrival. Full participation throughout the week is required for course completion.

Early bird registration is available for $375.00 through April 22, 2027. Registrations submitted after that date will increase to the standard course fee of $400.00.
