Complete Angler Award Day

Event Details

Complete Angler Award Day

Over the course of the day the scout will earn (assuming the fish are biting) the fishing, fly fishing and fish & wildlife management merit badges.  Plus participate in a service project to complete the BSA Complete Angler Award.

Because there is some overlap in the merit badges we will be teaching them all together so if you already have some of the three merit badges earned there is not an option to just show up for the missing ones.  It will be a full day of merit badges and fishing.

We will start at 9am and go to 4pm, lunch will be provided, let us know of any allergies you have.  Besides lunch your registration fee includes the various merit badges and the Complete Angler Award patch plus assorted fishing gear.

There will be gear to borrow on site but you can bring your own too.

Fishing licenses are NOT required; Scouts will participate in catch and release fishing.  Night crawlers will be provided.

Registration is limited to 50 participants.  Please bring a water bottle, sunscreen, sturdy shoes, and any other fishing gear you would like to use. Dress appropriately for the weather.

Every participant needs to bring a signed BSA Health Form Parts A & B.

Interested in staffing, please email Nick Kurtz at shilohnick@msn.com

Lake Lehow is a private lake that does not have a formal address.

Please use the following directions.
From C470, head South on Wadsworth Blvd for 4.6 miles.
Turn left onto Waterton Rd. Turn into the second parking lot on your left.
If you turn into the parking lot for the Audubon Center, you haven’t gone far enough.
If you cross the South Platte River, you have gone too far.
Once in the Waterton Canyon Parking Lot, take the service road on the south side of the lot, there is usually a chain across the lot here.
Take it down to drive in, then put it back.
Follow the service road to a green gate where a staffer will let you in.
