Shootzenfest

Event Details

You must be a member of a ScoutsBSA, Venturing Crew, or Sea Scout Ship on April 24, 2026, to participate. NOTE: This is not a Range Sports Event for Cub Scouts- Please see the RangeORee event signup.

Join us from Friday - Sunday, April 24 - 26, 2026 for Shootzenfest, Scouting Colorado’s premier Range Sports Outing, held at Camp Cris Dobbins at McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley.

This will be a fun-filled 2 nights of camping and fellowship at MSR at PV, open to all ages of ScoutsBSA members, Venturers, and Sea Scouts. ScoutsBSA members will be able to work on their rifle and shotgun merit badge shooting qualifications on Sunday (if desired). Even though the focus is on the youth participants, adults and instructors can have a little range time as available. Please note: this event is not open to Cub Scouts or Webelos (Please see the RangeORee Event).

This event is limited to 250 participants. Please sign up early as we hit capacity last year two weeks before the event. Registration will close on 4/17/2026.

COST: Early Bird Youth (11-20) $99. Adult Leaders (21+) $39. After 04/10/2026 registration increases to Youth (11-20) $120 and Adult Leaders (21+) $60. The cost covers the food, camping fee, range fee, gun usage, targets, clays, etc. and all the ammo that you can shoot.

Important event details:

All attendees must check in with all required paperwork before entering the range/camping area. This paperwork consists of a printed and signed Scouting Colorado Range Sports event waiver and current Scouting America Health Form parts A & B. All adult leaders (21+) and young adults (18-20) must also bring printed proof of valid YPT or S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth training completion to registration.

Attendees without the required paperwork will be sent home.

All ScoutsBSA participants 13 years of age or younger must attend with either their unit leadership or a BSA registered parent or guardian registered for this event.

Any Scout (ScoutsBSA, Venturer, or Sea Scout) 14 years of age or older attending without their unit must identify a person ONSITE to be responsible for them during registration.

You may also just come out for Shootzenfest on Saturday, April 25 as a day trip at the same cost. However, you MUST arrive before 7:45AM for check-in to be present for the event safety briefing held shortly thereafter. You cannot participate in the event without the briefing.

All campers must make their own tenting arrangements following all Scouting America Safeguarding Youth guidelines. In ScoutsBSA, Venturing, and Sea Scouts, youth and adults tent separately. Separate accommodations are required for adult males & females (though spouses may share tents). This also applies to families, and parents must tent separately from their youth. Separate accommodations are also required for youth males & females. Youth (11-17) sharing a tent must be no more than 2 years apart in age.

Meals are included all day Saturday and Sunday through lunch. You must take care of your own dinner on Friday night.

Like National & International Jamborees, ALL adult leaders and registrants (21+) are required to sign up for work duty to help make the event a success. Assignments will not be all day. These duties are listed in your registration signup. Please choose several options so that the assignments can be distributed fairly.

NRA INSTRUCTORS/RSO’s and Senior Event Staff will use a separate signup. Instructor and RSO work assignment will be on the range all day Saturday and Sunday AM. Other event leaders will have work assignments as needed for the area of responsibility you represent. If you are not sure if that applies to you, sign up here!
