Scouting Day in the Park

No Registration Needed
Who: Registered members of Scouting America and their family/guests
Where: Johnson-Habitat Park; 610 S Jason St, Denver, CO 80223
When: Saturday, August 23rd from 10:00 AM to 8:00PM
Why: To further scouting exposure in the Denver Metro Area, provide opportunities for advancement in the Cub Scouting and Scouts BSA programs, create community among the Packs, Troops, Crews, and Ships in the Greater Colorado Council, and to enjoy a wonderful day at a location focused on nature in the midst of the city.
What:
Activities will include but are not limited to:
- Setup, teardown, and maintenance of tents
- Fire safety, fire starting, and campfire activities
- Knife safety, totin’ chip, axe sharpening and care
- Nature, hiking, and pioneering activities
- Orienteering opportunities including map/compass work, hike/bike planning, and GPS use
- First Aid review of requirements specific for Cub Scouting and Scouting BSA programs for advancement
- Service hour opportunities to include conservation focused hours
- Cooking requirements and demonstratons from units to share and compare recipes
How can you be involved?
- We need scouters to provide resources and oversight of the various stations throughout the day
- Merit Badge counselors for any associated activities that can be conducted at the park are welcome to sign up and join so that we can offer these opportunities to the scouts
- Participation of scouters, their friends, and family
