2025 Fall National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)
National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, 6-day (Fall course is held over two weekends November 14th - 16th & 21st - 23rd, 2025), action-packed program designed for to provide youth members with a unified approach to develop proven leadership skills and experience they can use in their Scouts BSA Troops, Venturing Crews, Sea Scout Ships, schools and the world beyond.
NYLT integrates the best of modern leadership with the traditional strengths of Scouting. The course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what they must KNOW, and what they must DO. The key skill based elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The classroom skills come alive during the course’s outdoor activities and graduating Leadership Challenge.
Prerequisites:
- You must be at least 13 years old before the start of the course.
- Earn First Class Rank by November 14th, 2025 (Scouts BSA)
- Venturers and Sea Scouts must be at least 14 years old (or 13 and completed eighth grade) and can be no older than 20 years old. They must have completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews or Ships and have some basic camping experience.
- Complete a week-long Summer Camp
- Have the Unit Leader’s approval to attend NYLT
- Complete the ILST (recommended)
