Junior & Teen Sailing, Level 1 AM (Ages 10 to 17) **CANCELLED**

Event Details

This BEGINNING sailing course will introduce you to the exciting world of sailing. You will practice identifying wind direction and speed, rigging your boat, capsizing, tacking, jibing, and sailing up wind and down throughout scenic Newport Harbor. Students will sail in a RS Quest sailboat with a partner. Mastery of Level 1 skills is required to progress to Sailing 2. (Repetition of class is expected for many sailors to master skills.) Be prepared for a swimming proficiency test on the first day of camp.

Participants will receive a sailing workbook to track completion of all of the sailing skills required to complete Level 1. This workbook will be kept at NSB until the last class of this Level 1 class. Students who complete all of the Level 1 skills will receive a certificate of completion. Students who still need to spend more time on completing Level 1 fundamentals are encouraged to take Level 1 Sailing one more time to master the basic skills in order to participate in Level 2 sailing safely. Get ready for an experience of a lifetime!

This class runs from 8:30am to 12pm on Saturday March 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th.

Please remember to check the attachments for additional details before your class begins. BSA medical form AB is required and must be turned in at check-in.

**Participants must be able to attend all 4 sessions!**
