Cooking & Mammal Study AM (Ages 11 to 17)

COOKING: Learn with the basics of cooking with the Cooking Merit Badge! Participants will cook meals for themselves, their families, and their peers, all while learning about nutrition, health and safety and careers in cooking! If Scouts have a mess kit, they should bring it with them.
Participants in Scouts BSA will need to cook four (4) meals at home with adult supervision. Scouts that complete this prior to class may bring proof of completion and discuss this with their counselor for approval during the program.
MAMMAL STUDY: Scouts will learn about the animal kingdom and how they interact in their environment. They will explore food chains from soil to mammal and create a habitat for a native mammal while learning about their influence within the circle of life.
For our Scouts BSA campers: Scouts will have the opportunity to complete all requirements for the Mammal Study Merit Badge.
OC ZOO: Campers will hike down to the Orange County Zoo to continue learning about mammals. OC Zoo's focus is on animals and plants native to the southwestern United States. Animals on exhibit include black bears, mountain lions, island foxes, ocelot, porcupine, coyotes, and coati as well as red-tailed hawk, great horned owls, turkey vultures and more.
ADVENTURE: Between earning merit badges, each camper will have the opportunity to take a ride the zip line, reach the top of the climbing tower, explore the chaparral on a hike, cool off in our pool, and challenge themselves on our high OR low ropes course! Join us for a summer full of ADVENTURE!
Campers will have a chance to visit our Trading Post Store for snacks and souvenirs at the end of each day.
We will not be providing lunch to half day programs. If you are registering for the half day AM and half day PM, you will have the option to purchase lunch with your AM registration.
