Oceanography Merit Badge PM (Ages 11 to 17)

Calling all ocean enthusiasts! Interested in dissecting a shark? Ready to conduct research with plankton nets, microscopes, and underwater cameras? Join in and learn about our ocean's vital ecosystems, weather patterns, and bathysphere! Learn about the physical, chemical, geographical, and biological studies of oceanography, and take a boat field trip touring Newport Bay in search of fish and dolphins! Tour the Newport Sea Base Aquarium and learn how to be an aquarist taking care of the variety of fish tanks on site amd have the opportunity to feed the animals and plants. Get hands on with our live hermit crabs and learn all about their tank and overall care. Naturalists will also lead students through a preserved shark dissection on the last class; exploration awaits
This session runs from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, September 26th, October 3rd, and 10th.
