Klondike Derby 2024
Calling all prospectors and scouts: It’s time to return to the Klondike! The Klondike Derby is a 30+ year running winter camping tradition held in February each year. Prepare your sleds, prepare for snow, and prepare to compete as a patrol for gold and glory. This year’s Klondike will feature several events, including fire building, log saw, morse code, snow cannons, tomahawk throwing, rail spike drive, and more.
The Klondike Derby is a one-of-a-kind cold weather camping experience. Preparation is key for having a successful outing. Conditions can vary from year to year and can range from several feet of snow to no snow at all. We recommend each troop or patrol have a sled to help hike in your gear from the parking area near Dinkey Creek Road. It’s a good idea to have wheels that can attach to your sled in case there is no snow. For more information, visit www.seqbsa.org/klondike/
