Nov, 2025 Wilderness First Aid & CPR Courses

Event Details

Prepare for your unit’s upcoming outdoor excursions by ensuring at least one member of each crew is certified in Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR. This training is crucial for backcountry treks or outings where professional emergency care is over 30 minutes away.

The Wilderness First Aid course spans 16 hours, while the WFA Refresher is condensed into 8 hours. Both courses immerse you in wilderness medical care concepts, emphasizing hands-on practice and realistic scenarios. You'll learn scene and patient assessment, basic and advanced first aid techniques, CPR, AED and basic life support skills, as well as handling minor trauma, environmental concerns, allergic reactions, wound care, splinting, and more.

This training is highly recommended for Boy Scouts and adult leaders, empowering you with the necessary skills and confidence to manage emergencies in remote settings. Youth participants (minimum age 14) should hold a First Class Scout rank and have completed the First Aid Merit Badge, exhibiting a mature attitude for the course's serious scenarios. Upon completion, participants receive a WFA Field Guide Book, Certification Card, and Patch, valid for two years.

The WFA Refresher, at 8 hours in length, ensures your skills remain current and is available at a cost of $45.00. Registration is required before your current certification expires. Courses are conducted through the Emergency Care and Safety Institute and/or American Safety and Health Institute.
