Family Life

The family is the basic unit of society and is important to both individuals and communities. The world is rapidly changing, making today’s society much more complex than ever before. As Scouts earn this merit badge, they will realize why it is important to know more about family life and how to strengthen their families.

There is a requirement to track your chores for 3 months (the chores have to be approved by the merit badge counselor) so sign up early!

Dates: 

            Mar 2, 2026 - 6:30pm-8:30pm AZ time  (We are 2 hours behind ET on this date.)

            Mar 23, 2026 - 6:30pm-8:30pm AZ time (We are 3 hours behind ET on this date.)

Scouts must atten both classes for credit towards the badge.

(note: Arizona does not use Daylight Savings Time, if you are out of state, be aware of the time difference.)

Fee: $10

Prerequisite:   Age 13 or above - Important: Please see the course information document on this page and determine if you are willing to do the work before signing up.  The Scout will be doing all the requirements except 6a outside of class.   All requirements for this badge, except requirement 3, will be due by Mar 20, read all the requirements prior to class, and get started on them early.  Submit requirement 3a immediately.

Before enrolling, Scouts should not be taking merit badge classes without their Scoutmaster's knowledge.  Please make sure your Scoutmaster knows you are taking this virtual merit badge class and indicates the  Initial Unit Leader Signature in the merit badge in Scoutbook (the Scoutmaster may alternately sign the front of a blue card for the badge instead if desired.  Blue cards are available here: https://support.scoutingaz.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mb-app-blue-card-fillable.pdf  send the signed card to: bill.nelson@scouting.org )

This is a virtual class, please make sure your computer's microphone and camera work prior to class.

This class begins 6:30pm Arizona Time, if out of state, make sure you understand the time difference before registering

Because this badge deals with personal items, we will go over all the requirements during the class; however each Scout must individually submit answers for each requirement as it pertains to their lives to receive credit.  Please carefully read the instructions for this class posted on this page.  It is our recommendation that you utilize the optional merit badge workbook also available on this page, to complete the requirements.  We will explain more during the class.

A parent or guardian should be in the room with the Scout to audit the zoom meeting.
