Wilderness and Remote First Aid Training

Event Details

The primary purpose of the Wilderness and Remote First Aid course is to provide individuals with a foundation of first aid principles and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate emergency medical services response, such as wilderness and remote environments. This training is highly recommended for all activities where emergency help is an hour or more away.

Prerequisites:

Current adult CPR/AED (or take as an add-on by contacting one of the Course Directors listed below) At least 14 years of age (Recommended age is 16)

Course Modules:

  • Patient assessment
  • Hypothermia
  • Chest Injuries
  • Heat Problems
  • Shock
  • Altitude Illnesses
  • Head, Neck, Spinal
  • Allergies and Anaphylaxis
  • Bone and Joint Injuries
  • Wilderness First Aid Kits

Cost: $160 which includes American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid along with certification in Adult CPR/AED (includes lodging (bunk house) or campsite, and 2 meals). Fees are transferable; however, non-refundable unless the session is cancelled.

Bear Paw Outdoor Adventure Resort (NOT BEAR PAW SCOUT CAMP) N3494 HWY 55 (Just north of Gardner Dam Scout Camp)  White Lake, Wisconsin 54491 

Schedule:

Day 1:  8:00 AM - Sign in 8:15 AM - Start Class 9:45 PM - End Class - Lunch and Dinner Provided

Day 2:  8:30 AM - Start Class 12:30 PM - Finish (Tentative based on progress) Breakfast Provided

Session Size:

Limited to 12 participants; however a minimum of 6 participants is required to hold the course.
