This badge is a REQUIRED merit badge. Note on Pre-Req’s: This merit badge has a community service portion requirement which may be met before or after completion of workshop.  #7b: A signed letter from a troop leader and/or from organization completing service will be accepted.  #8: A public presentation (such as a video, slide show/digital presentation, speech, photo exhibit or poster) about important & unique aspects of your community. Include info about the history, cultures & ethnic groups of your community; economic & educational demographic info; its best features & popular places; and the challenges it faces in the future. This public presentation should be sent to me ahead of time to approve and/or edit before Feb. 9th.  Hint: I personally really like slide show (google slide or PowerPoint) & digital; as this is a time consuming requirement of the day.  Photo exhibits & posters can also be sent ahead of time for my approval on completeness.  #2a: With a map of your community (printout or digital); have located all of the chief government buildings; public service buildings; parks, playgrounds, recreations areas & trails & other historical and/or interesting points.  Also, viewing a movie before the workshop for #5 about an individual(s) who have a positive effect on a community to discuss with me.  Movie list: http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Citizenship_in_the_Community#Movies_With_a_Meaning
