The First Steps in the Youth Training Continuum

The purpose of the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops course is to teach scouts with leadership positions about their roles and how to most effectively reach success in those roles.

Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops is organized into three modules.

Module 1 – Troop Organization includes leadership positions in the troop, roles and responsibilities, troop organization, and introductions to vision and servant leadership.
Module 2 – Tools of the Trade covers some core skill sets to help the scout lead, including communicating, planning and teaching.
Module 3 – Leadership and Teamwork discussions of teams and team characteristics, stages of team development and leadership, inclusion/using your team, ethics and values of leaders, and an in-depth review of vision.

Who can participate in this course?  Any scout with a leadership position.

Is this course a requirement to attend NYLT?   Yes.

Is there a fee to attend?  Cost is $5.00 per scout.

What does that fee include? Trained emblem patch. Snacks during intermissions and a couple slices of pizza at the conclusion.

Can adult leaders attend?   Yes.

Upon completion of this course, the scout is qualified to wear the “Trained” emblem on his uniform.

30 maximum participants!!!  Need to reserve spots by Wednesday, March 6, 2019.
