GAC: National Youth Leadership Training - DHAB
Parents and Scout Leaders Thank You! Thank you for supporting your Scouts and helping them have this valuable experience. NYLT is a great way for a young person to develop their leadership skills. I know some of this information is late getting out and I apologize for that. Thanks for helping us do our best.
NYLT Start - Sunday, June 1 at noon. Please have your 2014 BSA Medical Form with Parts A, B & C ready to go. You will need to present it when you arrive at camp. (Staff is starting on Thursday, May 22 at 2:00 pm)
Directions to Denali High Adventure Base Take the George Parks Highway North to Fairbanks. The camp is next to the 'Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge'. The Mt. McKinley Princess Lodge is 93 miles from the Wasilla Walmart. Look for the signs that say Mt. McKinley Princess Lodge, you will drive over a bridge before the right turn on to the road. Take the princess road and drive towards the lodge. The third road on your left side will have a large red gate. That is the road into camp. I am not sure what the distance is from the gate to camp, about 5 miles and parts of the road are steep and you will pass through a second red gate. Base Camp where we check in will be on the right side of the road in the admin building. It will be hard to miss at that point.
We will be wrapping up at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 6 - this is a change or clarification We will be done at 3:00 pm on Friday. For those of you who are driving up, you are welcome to come join us for lunch around 12:00 pm. There will be a campfire program featuring what the Scouts have learned after lunch.
