Golden Spread Council - Welcome

2024 Wilderness First Aid Course

Event Details

This two-day introductory Wilderness First Aid course teaches participants the assessment of, and treatment given to an ill or injured person in the backcountry. In this type of setting, access to definitive care such as a hospital or clinic, as well as emergency transport may delayed for hours or even days.

Course participants will learn how to assess, treat, and when possible, prevent medical and traumatic emergencies within the scope of their training.

If you are planning on attending any of the BSA High Adventure Bases (Trek, contingent with Jamboree) must have someone trained before attending.  We only offer this class once per year so plan accordingly.  This is a TWO DAY COURSE AND YOU MUST ATTEND BOTH DAYS.  Overnight camping at Camp Don Harrington is available (must be registered in the BSA).  Contact the Scout Office at 806-358-6500 for more information and the procedures to camp.  Participants MUST be at least 14 years old to take this course as it's advanced first aid.

You must have CPR/AED BEFORE this class.  Our council is offering that on May 16 from 6:15pm to 10:15pm in the Scout Service Center! Register for this class online at www.goldenspread.org and click on Calender and Events...

This class is being hosted by Amarillo Collage and will be held at the West Campus located on 9th street.   Registration is through their web link at: https://www.actx.edu/safety/safety-class-schedule

The cost of this class is FREE due to a grant that Amarillo College receives so we thought we would pass this opportunity to our scouting family!!!
