Game Design Merit Badge Opportunity with New England Institute of Technology

Calling all Scouts BSA members interested in game design, technology, and competitive gaming! New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) is partnering with the Rhode Island Game Design Expo to offer Scouts an exciting opportunity to work toward the Game Design Merit Badge while developing a game, receiving guidance from industry mentors, and showcasing their work at a public expo.

Who: Scouts BSA members interested in earning the Game Design or Competitive Gaming Merit Badge.

What: Participate in a game design mentoring program, create your own game project, and present it at the Rhode Island Game Design Expo. This program is designed to give Scouts hands-on experience in game development, creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and technology.

Where: NEIT East Greenwich Campus and the Rhode Island Game Design Expo.

How It Works: Register and attend one mentoring session:

October 17

November 7

Develop your game project with guidance from mentors.

Submit the following to the RI Game Design Expo portal:

• Game Proposal/Outline by November 1
• Completed Game by November 10

Attend and showcase your project at the Rhode Island Game Design Expo on November 17.

Important: Participation requires attendance at one mentoring session and the RI Game Design Expo. Merit badge counselors will be available after the event to help Scouts complete any remaining badge requirements.
