Scouting for Food (Weekend 1)

Scouting for Food, an annual service campaign of Scouting America benefiting community food banks, is happening across the nation this November. Occoneechee Council is participating and offering doorhangers to units who want to canvas neighborhoods to collection non-perishable food donations for food banks.
Access the Council's Scouting for Food Page for form links, food lists and more >>
Mark your calendars for an opportunity for your Scouts to enjoy the crisp fall air while collecting food donations, learning about community service and making a strong show of local Scouting presence.
SCHEDULE:
First Weekend (Distribution) | Nov. 7, 2026 | Scouts place door hangers or bags on doorknobs of their local neighborhoods detailing requested food items and pickup plans.
Second Weekend (Collection) | Nov. 14, 2026 | Scouts return to pick up filled bags left on doorsteps and deliver them to local food pantries or banks.
HOW TO GET DOORHANGERS: Please fill out this form and let us know if your unit intends to particpate, how many door hangers your unit will need, and if your chartering org wants to be a collection point for food donations.
DON'T FORGET:
And remember... Packs and Troops can team up! Packs can handle distribution while Troops coordinate the collection. Just make sure everyone keeps track of where the door hangers or bags were delivered so they know where to return for pickup!
