Basics of Rifle & Shotgun Training Class

at J. Warren Cutler Scout Reservation
The Seneca Waterways Council Range and Target Activities Committee will be offering the NRA Basics of Rifle and Shotgun training on August 29th, 2026, at J. Warren Cutler Scout Reservation. The training will take place starting at 8:30AM.
Students will need to bring:
- Their lunch, water bottle and coffee mug.
- Weather appropriate clothing and footwear, for the outdoor range portions of the class
Hearing and Eye Protection will be provided. Feel free to bring your own Hearing and Eye Protection if you desire
The students will learn the knowledge, skills and attitude to become a basic rifle and shotgun shooter. Skills learned are shooting positions, body positions, shot mechanics, sight picture, parts of a rifle and shotgun, ammunition, shooting activities, practical exercises, cleaning and care of rifles and shotguns, safe gun handling, shooting skills development
Basics of Rifle & Shotgun training is a prerequisite for the NRA Rifle and Shotgun Instructor Training courses.
Cost: $80 per participant. This covers the cost of the training manuals you will be provided, and all ammunition for the day.
This class is for 21+
DO NOT BRING ANY FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION TO THE COURSE.
The course will be using camp provided firearms and ammunition
