Join in the festivities for Railroad Days in Council Bluffs and earn the Railroading Merit Badge! Led by a certified merit badge counselor, scouts will take a trip through time, using historic timetables to plan a trip and see what it was like to travel on one of Union Pacific’s passenger trains, learn about railroad safety, and design their own model railroad layout. Satisfies all the requirements for scouts to earn the merit badge. Come to the Union Pacific Museum for the Workshop on May 10th from 9AM-11AM, stay after the Merit Badge Workshop to enjoy Railroad Days at Mile Zero! Celebrate Council Bluffs’ place in history as Mile Zero for Union Pacific in this new take on an old favorite weekend! Railroad Days at Mile Zero is expanding this year to two days, Saturday May 9 - Sunday 10, 2026, from 12PM to 6PM each day. Visit the Union Pacific Railroad Museum, RailsWest Railroad Museum, Pottawattamie Arts and Culture (PACE), the Historic General Dodge House, and the historic 100 Block of Council Bluffs following the Celebrate CB festivities. Space is limited to the first 40 scouts who register.
