Pinewood Derby

Welcome Cub Scouts and Families to the North West District Pinewood Derby. This is an exciting time where cub scouts, parents, and families come together to celebrate creativity, teamwork, and family competition. The Pinewood Derby is a fun-filled event that allows each scout to build and race their very own wooden car, showcasing their skills and determination.

We are thrilled to have you all join us together for this memorable event. We encourage everyone to cheer on the scouts as they race their cars and demonstrate that hard work they’ve put into designing and building their entries.

Please review the itinerary below to ensure you are prepared for a smooth and enjoyable experience. Lets make this pinewood derby a fantastic time for all.

Date: Saturday April 5th
Location: 155 Shady Lane, Kalispell
Event Time: 8Am to 2Pm

8:00 Am Registration and Car Check In
- All Scouts must check in and have their cars weighed and inspected before the races.
- Ensure you car meets all the specifications: weight limit, size requirements, and wheels.
- If needed, assistance will be available to make sure cars are race-ready 9:00 Open Ceremony
- Welcome remarks from Cubmaster
- Flag Ceremony
- Brief explanation of race rules and structure
- Introduction of race officials and volunteers.

9:30 Racing
- Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, AOL race heats.
- Scouts will race their cars in heats according to their age groups.
- Cars will race down the track in a bracket style competition

11:30 Break for Lunch
- Snacks, Drinks, and Pizza will be available for purchase.

12:00 Pm Continued Racing and Finals
- Open Class Races
- All District Final Race

1:30 Awards Ceremony
- Prizes will be awarded for race winners, design awards and participation
- Each Scout will receive recondition for their hard work and sportsmanship

2:00 Closing Flag Ceremony and Clean up
- Special thanks to everyone for making this event special

Important Notes
Safety: Please be mindful of others and follow all safety instructions through out the event
Pinewood Derby Cars: No modifications may be made to the car once it has been checked in.
Please make sure your care complies with all rules

Parents: Volunteers will be needed to help with judging, race timing, and car inspections. If you can assist, please sign up when you check in
