Applicatioins for Mackinac Honor Guard

WEST MICHIGAN BOY SCOUTS INVITED TO APPLY FOR MACKINAC HONOR GUARD

Ada, MI - Each summer, a small percent of Michigan Scouts enjoy the honor of serving in the Governor's Honor Guard on Mackinac Island. This invitation - only adventure includes a week of service projects, sight-seeing and exploring on the island. Boy Scout Troop 290 of Ada has been selected to host every year since 1974 and is extending this year's invitation to all West Michigan Boy Scouts.
Travel dates are June 9-16. Scouts will travel by charter bus to/from the Grand Rapids area to Mackinac City then take the ferry to the island. The camp fee, expected to be less than $200, includes all travel, lodging in the Fort Mackinac Scout Barracks and meals for the entire week.

Complete all information electronically, then print and mail the application and a deposit to the address listed. Early applications are encouraged!
Eligible Scouts must have the recommendation of their Scoutmaster to participate. Between 50 and 60 Scouts will be selected for the Honor Guard.
The Governor's Honor Guard has been serving Mackinac Island since 1929. President Gerald Ford was a Scout in the first-ever guard. Scout responsibilities include raising and lowering all state park flags daily and serving as guides for island guest.
