District and Council Award Nominations are due on December 1st.

Nominations may be dropped off at the Council Service Center or uploaded online using the Award Nomination Submission link to the left. If you submit your nomination online, please include the Award Type and Nominee in the file (JohnSmith.DistrictAwardMerit).

District Award of Merit

This award is the highest a District can bestow upon a volunteer.  It can be given out to any registered scouter in the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, Venturing, or District level.  A nominee must have rendered noteworthy service to youth in Scouting, outside Scouting, or both.  Consideration will also be given to outstanding service above and beyond the expectations of their Scouting positions.  Please include any awards or service they have given to the community outside of scouting as well.

District Square Knot Award

This award is only available to unit Scouters and is intended for newer leaders in their first few years in scouting.  The aim is to award Scouters early in their careers for their accomplishments thus far and to give them encouragement to continue their outstanding efforts for many years to come.  Please note: each unit can submit one (1) nomination. Units with more than 10 youth can submit nominations based on one for every additional 10 youth registered.

District Scouting Spirit Award

The Scouting Spirit Award recognizes individuals who have given of themselves on behalf of the Scouting Movement at the unit level. It is for currently registered leaders who have done noteworthy and significant support at the unit level. This award can only be earned once and there is no limit on how many can be awarded within each unit.

District Silent Service Award

The Silent Service Award recognizes individuals who have given of themselves on behalf of the Scouting Movement at the unit level. It is for nonregistered individuals who have done noteworthy and significant support at the unit level. This could include a spouse or parent associated with the unit or an individual from the local community. This award can only be earned once and there is no limit on how many can be awarded within each unit.

Veteran Years of Service Award

The Veteran Years of Service Awards are to recognize registered leaders for their tenure in Scouting. Every five (5) years of service will be awarded at the Annual Dinner.

Unit Leader Award of Merit

The Unit Leader Award of Merit can be awarded to the top leader of any unit serving youth. This would be the Scoutmaster, Cubmaster, Varsity Team Coaches, Venture Crew Advisor or Sea Scout Skipper. With the exception of Cub Scouts the youth leadership of the unit should be a part of the nomination process.

Scouter's Key Awards

The Scouter's Key Awards can be earned by the top youth serving leaders of any unit. It is intended to encourage training, performance and tenure for key unit positions.

Leader Training Awards

The Leader Training Awards can be earned by all registered leaders in various positions. It is intended to encourage training, performance and tenure for unit volunteers.

Silver Beaver Award

The Silver Beaver Award recognizes registered Scouters of exceptional character who have provided distinguished service within the council. This is the highest national award that a council can bestow on a volunteer. This Award is presented at the Council Annual Dinner.
