Honoring Our Heroes: Memorial Day Flag Placement on Maui

Each year, in solemn remembrance and deep gratitude, Scouts, leaders, and families across Maui gather to honor the brave men and women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States. On Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 8:00 AM until noon—or until every grave is respectfully recognized—we will be placing American flags on veterans’ graves at various cemeteries across the island.

This cherished Memorial Day tradition is a visible symbol of our community’s enduring respect for those who have given so much in service to our nation. Scouts in full field uniform, alongside their leaders and family members in comfortable attire, will walk quietly among the resting places of our heroes, placing flags with care and reverence. Each flag serves as a reminder of courage, sacrifice, and the cost of freedom.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring water and sunscreen to stay safe and comfortable during the event. This is a meaningful opportunity for Scouts and community members alike to reflect on the legacy of our veterans and to ensure that their service is never forgotten.
