September 5-7 and September 20-21, 2025

Camp Verdugo Oaks, Castaic, CA

(This is a 2-weekend course)

The purpose of Wood Badge is to develop skilled leaders who can strengthen Scouting units in achieving the mission of Scouting America for the youth.

Scouts deserve the BEST trained leaders: Wood Badge is the premier adult leadership skills development course for Scouting America. Wood Badge is leadership training for all registered adults who are involved in any Scouting America program: Cub Scouting, Troop, and Venturing as well as Council and District volunteer leaders, and professionals.

Wood Badge is learning by doing:  Wood Badge teaches contemporary leadership concepts and team-building skills in a comfortable outdoor setting. Adult learners are formed first into a Pack, bridge over into a Troop, and finally are inducted into a Venturing Crew, just as Scouts would move up through the Scouting program. Wood Badge’s effective leadership development experience has been applauded by industry training professionals. Its positive influence on graduates’ unit-level programs is unparalleled.

Why do you want to go?

You attend Wood Badge to improve your leadership of small groups, and your understanding of how teams develop. The heart of Wood Badge is small group leadership. And, it is great fun too!

Benefits of attending Wood Badge:

  • Stronger units. You will make your Scouting unit stronger by supporting the program experience youth expect in Scouting.
  • What and why of Scouting. You will have a deeper understanding of what Scouting is and why we do it.
  • Experience. You will learn and experience things that will stay with you in Scouting and the rest of your life.
