2023 University of Scouting

Event Details

University of Scouting 2023

It is your time with... L.E.A.D. (Leadership, Education, and Direction)

This University of Scouting is “Virtually” Awesome and the largest one-day training event of the year that offers supplemental training courses to help enrich your unit and district programs. This is a premier training council event of the year. Because trained leaders lead successful units, UoS allows Scouters to receive supplemental and position-specific training. We encourage your leadership team to attend UoS together. The training is for volunteers at all levels (Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing, District or Council) and for Boy Scouts and Venturing Scouts. Whether you are new to Scouting or a veteran, there is something for everyone.

This is a full-day training opportunity for Scout Leaders and Scouts. In one place, one day, you can find the widest variety of training opportunities in all program areas.

Let us share insights into the four colleges that make up this remarkable gathering and explore how you can participate.

1. College of Cub Scouting:

For those involved with Cub Scouting, the College of Cub Scouting offers an array of enriching classes. These sessions are tailored specifically to enhance the Cub Scouting experience for leaders. Volunteers can actively participate by attending courses that cover topics such as den management, advancement strategies, fun program ideas, and effective communication with parents. By immersing yourself in the College of Cub Scouting, you will gain valuable insights and practical knowledge to create memorable experiences for our youngest Scouts.

2. College of Youth:

The College of Youth is an exceptional opportunity for young Scouts to expand their horizons and develop new skills. Through various classes, young Scouts can explore exciting subjects such as leadership, outdoor survival, first aid, etc. This college also offers merit badge classes, enabling Scouts to work towards earning badges while receiving expert guidance. Volunteers can contribute by sharing their expertise and experiences as instructors, helping young Scouts grow and learn in a supportive environment.

3. College of Scouts BSA:

The College of Scouts BSA caters to the needs of leaders involved in the Scouts BSA program. This college provides advanced training and workshops on various topics, including wilderness survival, high adventure planning, citizenship, and leadership development. Volunteers can take an active role by instructing classes, sharing their expertise, and mentoring Scouts as they navigate their Scouting journey. By participating in the College of Scouts BSA, you will contribute to the growth and development of our future leaders.

4. College of Adult Training:

The College of Adult Training serves as a hub for volunteers and leaders seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge in Scouting. This college offers a wide range of courses, workshops, and seminars covering diverse areas such as outdoor skills, program planning, risk management, and organizational leadership. Volunteers can participate by attending these sessions and acquiring valuable tools to provide the best possible Scouting experience for our youth. Additionally, experienced and knowledgeable volunteers can contribute by serving as instructors, providing mentorship, and sharing their passion for Scouting.

To participate or volunteer at the University of Scouting 2023, you can reach out directly to one of the college deans, to your local council or district leadership. They can provide you with information on registration, course offerings, and opportunities to contribute as an instructor or support staff. Whether you are a seasoned Scouter or a newcomer to the movement, your involvement in this event will make a significant difference in the lives of Scouts and fellow volunteers.

In conclusion, the Boy Scouts of America University of Scouting is an extraordinary event that brings together volunteers, leaders, and Scouts from all levels of the BSA program. By joining one of the four colleges—College of Cub Scouting, College of Youth, College of Scouts BSA, or College of Adult Training—you will gain valuable knowledge, develop new skills, and forge lasting connections with like-minded individuals. Embrace this opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of Scouting while fostering personal growth.
