2024 Winter Wilderness Survival Day Camp

Event Details

Are you ready to survive in the winter wilderness? No? Join us online or in person for our Winter Wilderness Survival Classes.

Our Winter Wilderness Survival Day Camp is online and in-person and is open to Adults, Crews, Troops, and Cubs and will start at 0900KST and will end at 1200 KST. For those participating in person it will be held at the Camp Humphreys Scout Hut.

Scouts/Scouters must put the same name and unit they registered with on the sign-in sheet for inperson or on zoom. If a scout/scouter fails to put their correct name and unit on the sign-in sheet or on the name bar on zoom they will not receive credit for the class if they're taking.

No registration will be accepted the day of the event, Classes have limited slots.

You may choose up to 3 Classes offered during this time:

Crews/Troops

  • Winter High Adventure - Things you can do with your Troops/Crews and how to do them safely
  • Winter Wilderness First Aid - Learning First Aid needs for Winter Wilderness Survival Adventures & proper First Aid gear.
  • Shelter Building - How to Build Shelter in Winter
  • Winter Cooking - Cooking Class geared towards Crews/Troops, what kind of stoves can be used, and building fires in winter
  • Keeping Warm in the winter - Learning to Properly Dress for Winter Activities and how to keep warm during winter camping
  • Winter Camping - Learning how to properly camp in Winter Weather, water filtration, building fires
  • Snowsports Merit Badge Classroom Portion - (For those taking this class they must select it for all three blocks to complete the classroom portion)
  • Wilderness Survival Merit Badge Classroom Portion - (To complete this Merit Badge a scout will need to be in person and take these additional classes: Shelter Building & Winter Camping)

Cubs

  • Winter Hazardous Weather & Seeking Shelter - Cubs & Leaders learn about hazarous winter weather conditions that could be faced and how to stay safe by seeking appropriate shelter
  • Cooking - Geared towards Cub Level Meals
  • Leaders Winter Adventures for Cubs
  • Winter Wilderness First Aid for Cubs - Basic Winter First Aid for Cub Events and what to pack for a Winter Cub Adventure
  • Keeping Warm in the winter - Learning to Properly Dress for Winter Activities
  • Snowbox Derby - Learn the rules and how to build your own snowbox for a snowbox derby

 

Please note that there is a cost differance between in person and online classes due to use and cost of materials.
