2026 Shanghai BALOO Training

BALOO course description
Adults work together as Dens. This hands-on course provides adult leaders with practical outdoor skills for leading and teaching Cub Scouts in the out-of-doors. BALOO training is required for any Cub Scout Leader or registered parent volunteer to conduct Webelos/AOL, Den or Pack outdoor events, camping overnighters. Both the on-line and practical hands-on components must be completed ot qualify as a "Trained" Cub Scout outdoor leader. Must attend overnight to complete course.
Who should attend:
- Cub Scout Leaders
- Parents or Legal Guardians of Cub Scouts
- Adult Leaders interested in learning more about Cub Scouts
- A BALOO-trained registered volunteer is required to be on-site for all Packs during outdoor events and/or overnight campouts with Dens or Packs.
PRE-REQUISITES
(must be completed BEFORE the course is taken)
- Registered Adult; preferred, but not required for BALOO.
- Current Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT - Formerly known as Youth Protection Training (YPT))
- Present a completed "Annual Medical & Health Record" - Parts A & B medical form to check-in.

BALOO DETAILS

Date: April 11-12
Location: Camp Greenwoods 2588 Shentai Lu, Sun Island Resort, Qingpu district in Shanghai, China.
Times: Arrival & Check-in 8-8:45 Saturday morning,
Closing and departures 11:30-12:00 pm Sunday afternoon
Deadline for sign-ups: April 9th
Cost: 550RMB includes, Camping Fee, Grounds fee, All materials, Handouts, registration, and Meals1 lunch, 1 Dinner, 1 Breakfast.

- Am I required to camp overnight?
- Yes! For both IOLS and BALOO you are required to stay overnight to accomplish the full training. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns about meeting this requirement.
