Barbarossa District's Merit Badge Madness!
September 22-24, 2023, Sembach Scout Hut and Ball Fields, Sembach, Germany
Barbarossa District’s 2023 Merit Badge Madness Campout will be held from Friday, 22 September, until Sunday, 24 September. Base camp will be on the Sembach Fields on Sembach Kaserne. Check-in will begin at 17:00 on the 22nd. The event will conclude at approximately 12:00 on the 24th. All scouts registered in the Transatlantic Council are invited to attend. The registration fee is $5 per scout and includes all merit badge activities and two nights of camping. However, Scouts can come just for the day as well. Registration will close at midnight, Wednesday the 20th.
Required prerequisites are listed with each merit badge, if applicable. Not all merit badges have prerequisites. Please pay close attention to the required prerequisites when registering.
Parent Portal - Parent Portal is an optional feature that allows the registration contact to provide parents with access to just their Scout's part of the registration, to make payments, and to complete data entry. Instead of one person having to pay for every attendee all at once during the initial online registration, it allows the registration contact to enter the number of Scouts and leaders expected to participate, pay for just one of them, and then be able to send a link & login credentials out to the parents to have them pay for their Scouts themselves. There is also the option to pay for everyone at one time.
The address for the Sembach Kaserne main gate is 67681 Wartenberg-Rohrbach. Signs will direct you to the location once you enter the gate. Non DoD ID card holders are welcomed but will have to be signed on to the base.
Materials will be provided, as needed, for each merit badge. Some merit badges require scouts to bring materials and/or equipment from home (i.e., phone or camera). Please pay close attention when registering for any material/equipment requests for desired merit badges.
As a bonus, we will also have the Mobile Trading Post on site in the Sembach Scout Hut! The Trading Post which will have uniforms, badges, and other program materials for Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA members! The Trading Post will accept U.S. dollars and Euros. Change may often only be given in U.S. dollars. Major credit cards are also accepted. The Trading Post will stock a range of BSA National supply items such as uniform shirts, uniform pants, and other clothing. There will be useful tools, essential camping equipment, and even craft kits. Spare water bottles and even pocketknives or hammocks can be purchased from the Trading Post.
Merit badge preferences will be on a first come, first-serve basis. All completed requirements will be recorded for each scout during the event and sent to unit leaders.
Registration closes on September 20th at midnight.
