TAC Work Weekend - Camp Freedom

Event Details

Thank you for helping our Council with a camp need!

The Transatlantic Council currently NEEDS YOU!

Our Council has enjoyed a long partnership in use of the property known as Frankenkaserne or to our Council membership, Camp Freedom. This property has been host to summer camp programs, Cub Scout family weekend events, many Order of the Arrow gatherings and once upon a time hosted our Council's Scout Shop. Currently the property has aging wooden tent platforms that our Council has agreed to dismantle.

As the wooden platforms age, they have become a safety hazard and need to be dismantled and placed into dumpsters. This is where you come in - we need your help as this is a large task! On the Weekend of Columbus Day starting Friday evening we would like to gather as many helping hands as possible to completely dismantle the platforms by Monday morning. We'll have dumpsters on standby to load the wood but we need manpower and some helpful tools if possible.

A shuttle van is possible from the Oberdachstetten train station to Camp Freedom if needed - mark that please in your registration and communicate with us if you have questions.

WHAT to bring: The A-B portions of the BSA physical! Your own camping gear and toiletries. (there are rooms and beds available but linens and toiletries are on your own). Bring your Leather work gloves - work clothes - any large deepset 15mm sockets - socket breaker bars - crowbars and if anyone has a decent working 220 circular saw , it would be highly appreciated that weekend.

Food for the weekend will be provided by the Council - no fee to register but please sign up you and your Scouts so we know who is coming and how many people to add to the Service hours report.

Who: all Scouts BSA and Venturing adults and Scouts - Cub Scout ADULTS - District leadership

When: October 11 to 14th (Friday is arrival only - work on Sat. Sun and finish Monday morning)

If you and your unit can only help a part of the time, don't be shy we can use the help! Ask about committing to just a portion

Thank you for all you do for Transatlantic Scouting!
