The Transatlantic Council Shooting Sport Committee will host two one-day in person Shotgun Shooting Merit Badge Courses.
The courses teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a shotgun in target shooting. Students will learn the National Rifle Association’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development.
Students will take a Basics of Shooting Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate (upon completion of the range portion of the class).
The qualification courses will fulfill the requirements 2(a)(k) Shooting score required. - Hit at least 12 (48 percent) out of 25 targets in two 25 target groups. The two groups need not be shot in consecutive order. A minimum of 50 shots must be fired.
Prices: Scouters completing the NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course/ Shotgun Shooting Merit Badge: $68.00. This includes rental fees for the shotgun, shotgun shells, clay targets and range rental.
