Edelweiss District International Friendship Camporee 2025

Event Details

Mark your calendars for the combined Edelweiss District Fall Camporee and 4th International Friendship Camp, 2025.

September 19th through the 21st

Located in Garmisch-Partenkirchen Germany, at the Edelweiss Resort Campground.

Theme: Messenger's of Peace: Leave No Trace

Activities/Stations: Hiking and Sustainability

Invite your youth leaders to join the planning chat on WA. Contact Randy Caldwell for invite: +49 1738714703. This is an exercise in multi-national planning along with adult leaders over the long term that started in 2020 as the “Edelweiss Patrol-leaders Interactive Council” (EPIC) with the goal to design a “Sustainability Camporee” (actually planned for Zellhof). As covid restrictions lifted, EPIC morphed into inviting “local” WOSM youth scout leaders (within 4 hours of Munich) to join the project, but then actually have the camp(oree)s. Many of this year’s station ideas came from that EPIC project in 2020.

The EPIC-IFC project in a nutshell: organized by the youth, as it is in Scouting America, and takes approximately 1 year to complete the set steps: location, date, theme, patch design and activities. This is the 4th, and the 2nd being combined with an Edelweiss Camporee. At the last, in 2023, we also hosted 9 Ukrainian refugee Scouts. Visit T21’s website to see the press we got, https://troop21.scoutsbavaria.de/.

Planning is ongoing by the youth and adult leaders on the WA channel, but the idea is that while we will have stations in camp for the non-hikers, each hiking group will have mobile challenges on the trail to take with them that mimics the stations in camp. As we get closer to camp, the youth will organize their MC team for the Campfire on Saturday night. We are hoping to project pictures taken by the scouts on their hikes onto a background screen while all are entertained by the international flair of skits and songs.

Hikes to be organized:
Höllentalklamm (currently under construction) or Kramerspitz - Troop 44 leading this effort.
Partnachklamm – moderately difficult hike.
Eibsee – flat hike around Eibsee at the base of Zugspitze.

Cost pp approximations:
Campground:              $17pp.
Collectible patch:        $4ea.
Misc.:                          $0-4.
Transpo.(to hike start):$self-arrange or we’re seeking public transport/Jugendring help.
