Edelweiss District Stuttgart Spring training weekend 2026

Event Details

Join the Edelweiss District April Training weekend!

When, the weekend of April 17-19, 2026.

training options for the weeekend include:

  • BALOO course

  • Level 1 Archery Instructor from the USA Archery

You can do both courses or select only one, your choice! BALOO instruction begins at 8am on Saturday and concludes Sunday morning followed by the Archery Instructor course.

This will take place at the 'Garden of Eden' location just outside Panzer Kaserne in the Stuttgart Germany area.

BALOO = Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation

BALOO: It’s the introductory training Cub Scout leaders should complete before taking Cub Scouts on an overnight camping trip.

Who should take BALOO?

Scouting America requires that you have at least one BALOO-trained adult on every Cub Scout den or pack overnight outdoor event. That include pack camping and Webelos den overnighters.

A BALOO-trained leader should be at any overnighter regardless of whether it is a pack, district or council event.

Having at least one BALOO-trained adult will make your Cub Scouts’ camping experience as awesome as it can be.

Why should I take BALOO?

Leaders who complete BALOO training are better prepared to plan pack den or pack overnight events.

You’ll learn how to make camping activities and outings fun. You’ll discover how to keep your Cub Scouts safe and entertained. And you’ll learn how to plan an event that’s rooted firmly in Cub Scouting’s principles.

Successful experiences in the outdoors make Cub Scouts — and their parents — more likely to keep coming back.

Training Requirements:

BALOO Training is made up of two parts: an online course available on My.Scouting.org, and an in-person, hands-on course. You must complete both parts to qualify as a trained outdoor Cub Scout leader. The hands-on course involves camping overnight (after all, that’s what the course is about – camping). You’re going to learn a lot, from cooking to first aid to campfires to hiking to aquatics and much, much more. To find the online training go to your 'My.Scouting.org' account, Go to 'My Training', then click on 'Cub Scouting training courses' and search BALOO in the Catalog at the top of the page.  Please print or take a picture of your certificate and bring it with you to class.

  • All attendees will need to bring an annual health and medical form parts AB.
  • You will need to bring your own personal camping gear to include tent, sleeping bag, cot, toiletries, towels, and a mess kit (plate and/or bowl, fork, knife, spoon, and mug/cup) and camp chair (if desired)
