Camp Kenya BSA 2024

Event Details

Transatlantic Council is excited once again to offer Camp Kenya! Camp will be held at the Savage Wilderness Adventure Camp, three hours outside of Nairobi, Kenya. Savage Wilderness leads the way in Kenyan adventure opportunities providing unique, breathtaking experiences in one of nature's most beautiful environments. Led by an international team of outdoor experts fully trained to provide the highest safety standards; you will cross rivers, plains and plateaus in an extraordinary and unforgettable adventure.

Camp Kenya is open to all youth and leaders who are registered with a Scouts BSA Troop, Venturing Crew, Sea Scout Ship or Explorer Post. Our Provisional Camper Program ensures Lone Scouts and smaller units can attend Camp Kenya by joining together provisional campers into provisional units. Participants age 11 to 13 require a designated responsible adult to be present at Camp, this may be a parent/guardian or a pre-determined unit leader. Meals will be provided as part of the camp fee structure.

Families wanting to join in the week can be accommodated in our Family Camping area and experience a family adventure holiday, with meals provided, while their youth participants spend their week in Camp Kenya activities. There are a limited number of Family Camping spots available.

Dates for our 2024 camp season:

  • Staff Arrival: December 27, 2024
  • Participant Arrival: December 29, 2024
  • Program Session: December 30, 2024 - January 3, 2025 (January 5, 2025 for Mlimi Camp)

We will offer Scouts four choices for their week of activities. First, we offer a "Trail to First Class" program to assist Scouts that are new to BSA programs by accomplishing many requirements towards the Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class ranks, known as Karibu Camp. Second, for those more experienced Scouts we will offer a menu of merit badge classes through our Savannah Camp. For our 14+ youth we are offering two unique high adventure options, Kilele Camp, which will be a high adventure experience, including a hike out and offsite overnight with a whitewater rafting trip back to Camp, and much more, and our newest program, Mlima Camp, which will include summiting Mt. Kenya! All participants will experience additional adventure options to spend a productive week at camp while still creating fun memories for our Scouts to grow from!
