Course Overview
The virtual workshop, hosted by the Transatlantic Council, is designed for Commissioners seeking academic credit toward the Doctorate of Commissioner Science degree. Offered in two identical sessions to accommodate diverse schedules, the program delivers four advanced courses aligned with the College of Commissioner Science curriculum. Each course supports the development of strategic leadership, inclusive recruitment, and collaborative service delivery across Scouting units.
Participants are required to attend only one session. Completion of the workshop fulfills education requirements and contributes toward credit for the Doctorate of Commissioner Science, a recognition of excellence in commissioner service, leadership, and lifelong learning.
Instructional Format
Each virtual session includes four structured modules, each approximately 50 minutes in duration. The curriculum emphasizes practical application, reflective dialogue, and alignment with current standards of commissioner service.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Articulate the principles and legacy of servant leadership within the Scouting movement
Develop inclusive recruitment strategies to strengthen commissioner diversity

Transform commissioner relationships into strategic partnerships that enhance unit support

DCS 509 – Legacy of Servant Leadership
Explores the historical and philosophical foundations of servant leadership and its relevance to commissioner service. (Updated 1 May 2025)
DCS 512 – Recruiting for Diversity
Examines inclusive recruitment practices and strategies for building representative commissioner teams. (Updated 31 August 2025)
DCS 516 – Growing and Strengthening Our Unit Service Team
Introduces methods for expanding commissioner capacity and fostering collaborative team dynamics. (New 15 August 2025)
DCS 519 – Turning Relationships into Partnerships
Focuses on converting commissioner-unit relationships into sustainable partnerships that drive program success. (New 1 April 2025)
