2026 New Market Battlefield Camporee & Cub Day

May 15–17, 2026 | New Market, Virginia Presented in partnership with the Virginia Museum of the Civil War

Join us for a historic "two-in-one" Scouting event on the hallowed grounds of the New Market Battlefield! This weekend offers an immersive living history experience for Scouts of all ages as we commemorate the 162nd Anniversary of the Battle of New Market.

Important Registration Note

We want to make it easy for your unit to secure a spot even if your final numbers aren't set.

To Register Now and Pay Later: When checking out, select the "Pay at the Door" option and then click Checkout. This will finalize your registration without requiring immediate payment, allowing you to adjust your participant count as your roster is finalized.

To Pay in Full: You may pay the full amount at the time of registration. You will still have the ability to log back in and adjust your registration numbers later if needed.

Program Options

Full Weekend Camporee (Scouts BSA, Venturers, & AOLs)

Cost: $20.00 per person (Adults & Youth).

Includes: Camping from Friday to Sunday, all weekend programs, museum admission, and an event patch. Note: Arrow of Light (AOL) youth will participate in a dedicated AOL track on Saturday that mirrors the Scout events with age-appropriate activities.

Cub Family Overnight (Saturday)

Cost: $15.00 per person.

Includes: All Saturday day programs and demonstrations, Saturday night camping, museum admission, and an event patch.

Cub Scout Saturday Day Program

Cost: $10.00 per Cub Scout.

Includes: Saturday-only program, all event demonstrations, museum admission, and an event patch.

Special Programs, Competitions & Campfire

The Passport Program: Scouts will rotate through various stations (Film, Confederate Camp, Surgeons, Drill, Music, Baseball, Tour, Farm, Museum) to earn stamps. Full passport books earn a pair of pins to be worn on the New Market Patch; partial books earn a single pin!

The Golden Shoe Competition: Put your pioneering skills to the test! Scouts BSA and Venturing Crews will compete to build the sturdiest and fastest "snake fence" using staves and lashings. The champion takes home the legendary Golden Shoe trophy.

Luray Caverns Award: A pair of tickets to Luray Caverns will be awarded to the Cub Scout who best exemplifies Scout Spirit (enthusiasm, kindness, helpfulness) during Saturday's activities!

Saturday Night Campfire & OA Call-Out: Join us Saturday evening for awards, Civil War ghost stories, and an Order of the Arrow "Call Out" ceremony. Out-of-council troops are welcome to participate. All OA members are encouraged to wear their sashes!

Saturday Highlights (May 16):

7:00 – 8:00 a.m. – Check-in (late arrivals and Cub units)

8:00 a.m. – SPL and Scoutmaster Meeting at Scout HQ

8:30 a.m. – Flags

9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Scout Passport Program & Cub Day Program

10:00 a.m. – Artillery Firing Kickoff

11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Lunch with your Unit

3:45 – 4:15 p.m. – Civil War Era Rounders Game (Baseball)

6:15 p.m. – Flags

7:00 p.m. – Cub Crossover Ceremony (Overlook area of Field of Lost Shoes)

8:30 p.m. – Campfire, Awards & OA Ceremony

Sunday Highlights (May 17):

8:45 a.m. – Flags

9:00 – 9:45 a.m. – Finish Passport Program or Chapel Service

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Commemorative Ceremonies (Woodson’s & 54th PA Monuments)

2:00 p.m. – Check out (Pins for completed passports distributed at check-out)

Fires & Burn Ban Policy: Wood fires are permitted, but fire pits must be dug with the sod carefully saved and replaced before checkout to Leave No Trace. Please Note: Due to drought conditions in the Shenandoah Valley, we are monitoring state/local burn bans. If a ban is enacted, no wood fires will be allowed. Propane stoves are permitted for cooking at all times.

Leave No Trace: Trash must be packed out to the designated dumpster. Greywater must be disposed of properly. Absolutely no sheath knives, gas lighters, or chemical fire starters.
