2026 New Market Battlefield Camporee & Cub Day May 15–17, 2026 | New Market, Virginia Presented in partnership with the Virginia Museum of the Civil War

Join us for a historic "two-in-one" Scouting event on the hallowed grounds of the New Market Battlefield! This weekend offers an immersive living history experience for Scouts of all ages as we commemorate the 162nd Anniversary of the Battle of New Market.

Important Registration Note We want to make it easy for your unit to secure a spot even if your final numbers aren't set:

To Register Now and Pay Later: When checking out, select the "Pay at the Door" option and then click Checkout. This will finalize your registration without requiring immediate payment, allowing you to adjust your participant count as your roster is finalized.

To Pay in Full: You may still pay the full amount at the time of registration. You will still have the ability to log back in and adjust your registration numbers later if needed.

Program Options

Full Weekend Camporee

Who: Scouts BSA, Venturers, and Arrow of Light (AOL) Scouts.

Cost: $20.00 per person (Adults, Scouts, and AOLs).

Includes: Camping from Friday to Sunday, all weekend programs, museum admission, and an event patch.

Cub Family Overnight (Saturday)

Who: Cub Scouts and their families!

Cost: $15.00 per person.

Includes: All Saturday day programs and demonstrations, Saturday night camping, museum admission, and an event patch.

Cub Scout Saturday Day Program

Who: Cub Scouts (Lions, Tigers, Wolves, and Bears).

Cost: $10.00 per Cub Scout.

Includes: Saturday-only program, all event demonstrations, museum admission, and an event patch.

Guided Battlefield Tours: We are thrilled to announce that Aaron Siever with Aaron's Civil War Travels will be providing guided tours of the battlefield for our Scouts!

Live Civil War Music: Additionally, the Venturing Crew and Civil War Field Music and Color Guard of the 1st Penna Reserve Volunteer Corps (30th P.V.I.) will be joining us to put on a spectacular display of Civil War Music! For more information about them.

Saturday Highlights (Based on 2025 Schedule):

10:00 a.m. – Artillery Firing Kickoff

10:00 a.m. – Union Army Drill and Black Powder Demos

10:30 a.m. – Medical Demos

11:15 a.m. – Drill with the Confederate Army

11:30 a.m. – Guided Battlefield Tours

12:00 p.m. – Guest Author Talks

12:30 p.m. – Artillery Demo & History Talk

3:45 p.m. – Civil War Era "Rounders" Game (Baseball)

Sunday Highlights (Based on 2025 Schedule):

9:45 a.m. – Union Army Drill & Walk to 54th PA Monument

11:15 a.m. – Confederate Ceremony at Woodson’s Monument

11:45 a.m. – Cadet Ceremony at the Orchard Fence (with Artillery Firing)

1:00 p.m. – Confederate Drill & Live Black Powder Demos

Military Camp Life demonstrations

Cooking Demonstrations in the Bushong Summer Kitchen

Self-guided tours of the Bushong Farm and House

Period games and dancing at the Bushong Farm

Shopping in the General’s Store

Important Notes

Leaders Guide: Available NOW! Be sure to download and review it with your unit leadership to prepare for the weekend.

Program Guide: Keep an eye out! This will be released as soon as all program events for 2026 are finalized.

Camping: Units participating in the full camporee or the Cub Family Overnight will camp on the historic battlefield.

Leave No Trace: As we are guests on a State Historical Park, all units must strictly adhere to Leave No Trace principles to preserve the grounds.

Meals: Units are responsible for their own food and cooking gear. You will be allowed to have an open fire, details to come.
