Fall Adult Training Weekend

Join the Virginia Headwaters Council Training Team for a weekend of Adult Leader education at our fall University of Scouting. Achieve your "Trained Leader" status by taking BALOO (for Cub Scouts) or IOLS (for Scouts BSA). Up your adult leader game by learning how to conduct a successful ILST in your Troop, how sending your Scouts to NYLT enriches the Scouting experience for our youth, and why investing in Adult Leader education such as Wood Badge can take your unit to the next level. Other sessions and topics may be added as we get closer to the date. Saturday night's Cracker Barrel will feature a Wood Badge Reunion celebration for all Wood Badge Alumni and future Wood Badge participants.
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO): This course for adult Cub Leaders is designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for leaders interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities. BALOO training consists of an online pre-requisite component in addition to an overnight hands-on practical. Scouting’s Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with the discovery of the necessary tools to help units carry out a successful camping experience.
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS): Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult ScoutsBSA leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Scouts BSA Troops in order to be considered trained.
