Join us for the 2026 Virginia Headwaters Council 2026 Merit Badge University at Blue Ridge Community College! Scouts have the opportunity to learn from qualified instructors, explore future careers, and work toward completing up to two merit badges.
Event Details
Date: Saturday, November 21, 2026
Time: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Check-in starts at 7:00 AM; opening assembly at 8:45 AM)
Location: Blue Ridge Community College, 1 College Lane, Weyers Cave, VA 24486 (Check-in at the Plecker Center Atrium)
Youth Registration Fee: $10 per Scout (covers administrative costs; some badges require separate supply fees and includes a Merit Badge University Patch)
Adult Registration Fee: Free
Registration Deadline: Saturday, November 14, 2026 (No late or walk-in registrations accepted)
Merit Badge Offerings
Each Scout may select either one full-day class or two half-day classes (one AM and one PM). Capacity is limited and classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Important Logistics & What to Bring
Uniform: Official field uniform ("Class A").
Blue Cards & Records: Physical blue cards are not required. Please bring an electronic Scoutbook printout or a unit leader permission letter.
Prerequisites: Review the attached Leader Guide for specific badge prerequisites and required items. Come prepared to discuss and demonstrate requirements.
Lunch & Snacks: Food service is not provided on-site. All participants must bring a bag lunch and drink to eat in the Houff Student Center.
Supplies: Bring a notebook, pen/pencil, and the appropriate merit badge pamphlet or workbook.

Adult Leader Opportunities
CPR/AED Training: In-person certification session.
Open Computer Lab: Dedicated lab space for Scouters to complete online training modules.
Free Out-of-Council Troop Camping Out-of-Council troops attending MBU are invited to camp at Camp Shenandoah free of charge for the weekend! Make a full weekend trip out of your MBU experience.
