Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)

“This hands-on program gives adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a Scout-led troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors.”

Come and join us for a two-day IOLS training where you will function as a patrol and will learn the outdoor skills and learning methods scouts will use in our program.  This session  does not include camping and will be dismissed at 9:00 pm Friday night 11/8, resuming 8:00 am Saturday morning 11/9.  

Items to bring:

Scouts BSA Handbook ( borrow a scouts book)
Rain Gear
Water Bottle
Flashlight
Map/Compass
Clothing for the Season (to be comfortable in the outdoors)
Eating/Mess Kit
Notebook or Paper
Pen or Pencil
Camp Chair (for comfort, but there will be picnic tables...1st come, 1st serve)
Tent & ground cloth. We will pitch these Saturday, but not camp in them.
BSA medical form A & B-completed
 

On Friday, this course will be held from 6pm to 9pm and you will be served Dinner by the troop guides.  The course will resume Saturday between 8am & 7 pm where you will function as a patrol and prepare & enjoy 3 meals.  The class will conclude Saturday night following Dinner.
