Rainbow Council Aquatics 2026

What: Swimming Merit Badge, Life Saving Merit Badge or American Red Cross Life Guard

Where: Lincoln-Way West High School (21701 S. Gougar Rd., New Lenox)

When: Swimming Merit Badge: 12/19/25, 01/23/2026, 2/13/2026, 2/20/2026 (last day if needed)

            Life Saving Merit Badge: 12/19/25, 01/23/2026, 2/13/2026, 2/20/2026

            American Red Cross Lifeguard: 12/19/25, 01/23/2026, 2/13/2026, 2/20/2026

 Time:   6:30 pm - 8:30 pm (MUST CHECK IN at 6:15 pm. Class starts at 6:30 pm.)

Cost: Swimming Merit Badge - $35 per scout, Troop Group registration (5 or 6 scouts) $175

          Lifesaving Merit Badge - $35 per scout, Troop Group registration (5 or 6 scouts) $175

          American Red Cross Life Guard - $125 each (book included)

Pre-requisites:

Swimming: Pre-req #1, 6d & 9 Must be written (legibly) or typed down on PDF’s and turned in by 12/12/2025.

Lifesaving: Pre-req #3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 17 Must be written (legibly) or typed down on PDF’s and turned in by 12/12/2025.

Swimming & Lifesaving:  ALL participants will need to complete and submit the required prerequisites in COMPLETE, LEGIBLE written/typed form 1 week BEFORE the first session.  Failure to submit complete prerequisites will disqualify scouts from participating and their reservation will be opened to a waitlisted participant.

ALL PARTICIPANTS will need to pass the BSA Swimmer’s test which will be administered on site, at the first session (Scouts BSA scouts).

PLEASE HAVE YOUR AWARDS CHAIRPERSON TAG BYRON OLSON IN SCOUTBOOK. IF YOU DO NOT USE SCOUTBOOK, PLEASE BRING A SIGNED BLUECARD TO THE 1ST CLASS.

All participants:  All participants are expected to have thoroughly read through the appropriate Merit Badge & Training Pamphlet(s) information covering ALL the requirements BEFORE the first session. Be Prepared!

 Other Information: 

• For units bringing 4 or more scouts, there must be a TRAINED LEADER in attendance at all dates. 
• This is not a drop off event. A parent/guardian must stay for the length of the class.
• Each participant must bring a signed BSA Annual Health and Medical Form Parts A & B (or upload it when registering).
• Must pick either Swimming or Lifesaving and attend sessions until badge is complete.
• If you have a partial in Swimming and want to take Life Saving, you must contact Byron Olson at jojobuck@comcast.net to work out details prior to registering.
