Pricing: $25 In Council, $40 Out of Council

Scoutmaster Position Specific Training?

This training is the in-person version of the online Scoutmaster Position-Specific training program required for everyone registered as Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster and optional for all other adults involved with a Scouts BSA Troop.

This training introduces you to everything you need to know about serving as a Scoutmaster for a Scouts BSA Troop, and just how different it is from a Cub Scout Pack.

This course, combined with Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) course, Safeguarding Youth Training, and Hazardous Weather ID, will make you a “fully trained” Scouts BSA leader.

If you have completed all online position-specific training, the Friday evening portion is not required. If you’re unsure, please reach out to the course contact to check your training status.

What is IOLS?

IOLS stands for Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills. This hands-on Scouts BSA Troop leader program gives adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a Scout-led troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the outdoors. This training is required for all Scoutmasters & Assistant Scoutmasters to be considered as fully position-trained. Other registered adults are also encouraged to attend.

PARTICIPANT FORMS:

Each participant must complete an Annual Health and Medical Record (Parts A & B) and turn it into the health officer upon arrival. ALL participants must have completed the online Safeguarding Youth Training,  Hazardous Weather Training, and, unless you are attending the Friday evening position specific training, you must also have completed position-specific training available at my.scouting.org.

ACCOMODATIONS:

You will be sleeping outside in tents, with most of the course taking place outdoors. If you have a special need or mobility issue, please bring it to our attention when you register or with the Course Contact.

MEALS:

Participants will be provided Cracker Barrel on Friday, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner on Saturday, and Breakfast on Sunday. Please eat dinner prior to arriving at camp Friday evening.

Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate will be provided.
