2023 National Scout Jamboree

Oregon Trail Council Information Sheet

Dates:                          July 17, 2023 through July 29, 2023.

Travel Plans:             

The Oregon Trail Council Jamboree Contingent will leave Portland International Airport on July 17, 2023 and fly to Washington DC on an overnight flight. We will have a Capitol Hill tour to see where the Government lives and breathes. In the afternoon we will visit the Smithsonian Complex visiting the various museums there. The contingent will arrive at the Summit on July 19th and camp there through the morning of July 28th. At that point the contingent will resume the tour at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg VA. Then the next morning we will visit Arlington National Cemetery, the Washington Monument in the afternoon and finally a photo stop at the White House before heading to the airport for our return home to Portland International Airport on July 29th arriving late evening.

Organization:             

The Jamboree is on a first-come basis to all who qualify. Scouts will be assigned to the Jamboree Troop consisting of 32 Scouts and eight adult leaders. Two patrols for male youth and two patrols for female youth. You will be a member of a patrol within the Troop. The Council contingent will consist of one troop of 40.

Qualifications:           

Scouts MUST have a current BSA membership with a scout troop prior to departure for the Jamboree. MUST be at least 12 years of age by the first day of Jamboree but has not reached their 21st birthday by the last day of the Jamboree. Must be approved by your unit leader and contingent Scoutmaster.

Total Cost:                 

$3,950 for all participants. Jamboree fundraisers will be available to assist with this cost.

Payment Schedule:  

• $200 deposit upon submission of Request to Attend form
• First payment of $900 by October 15, 2022
• Second payment of $900 by December 15, 2022
• Third payment of $900 by Feburary 15, 2022
• Fourth payment of $550 by April 15, 2023
• Fifth payment of $500 by June 15, 2023

Fee Includes:             

The Jamboree fee covers all transportation, tours, admission fees, meals, lodging, insurance and training events prior to the Jamboree. Your expenses will be personal equipment, uniforms and spending money.

Refund Policy:           

If you sign up for the Jamboree and can not attend, you will receive a full refund provided there is an alternate scout to take your place. In the event there is no alternate a partial refund may be granted. There will be no refunds after May 15, 2023.
