Merit Badges Offered (more coming soon):
American Heritage - Pre-requisites (the following need to be done prior to attending course)
- #2a - Select two individuals from American history, one a political leader (a president, senator, etc.) and the other a private citizen (a writer, religious leader, etc.). Find out about each person's accomplishments and compare the contributions each has made to America's heritage.
- #3a - (a) Select a topic related to the United States that is currently in the news. Describe to your counselor what is happening. Explain how today's events are related to or affected by the events and values of America's past.
- #3c - (c) Research your family's history. Find out how various events and situations in American history affected your family. If your family immigrated to America, tell the reasons why. Share what you find with your counselor.
Citizenship in the Nation (Eagle) - Pre-requisites (the following need to be done prior to attending course)
- #5 - Watch the national evening news for five days in a row or read the main stories in a national media organization (eg., a newspaper or news website) for five days in a row. Discuss the national issues that you learned about with your counselor. Choose one issue and explain how it affects you, your family, and community.
- #6 Choose a speech of national historical importance. Explain:
- a. Who the author was
- b. What the historical context was
- c. What difficulties the nation faced that the author wished to discuss
- d. What the author said
- e. Why the speech is important to the nation's history
- f. Choose a sentence or two from the speech thath has significant meaning to you, and tell your counselor why.

Cooking - Some cooking will be done, but this merit badge will be a partial.
Emergency Preparedness - Pre-requisites required
- #3b - Develop and practice a plan of escape for your family in case of fire in your home. Draw a floor plan with escape routes and a map with a safe meeting place. Discuss your family's home escape plan with your counselor.
- #3c - Using a checklist in the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge pamphlet or one approved by your counselor, prepare or inspect a family disaster kit for sheltering-in-place and for evacuation of your home. Review the needs and uses of the items in a kit with your counselor.
- #4a - Using a home safety checklist included in the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge pamphlet or one approved by your counselor, inspect a home (or a similar building near where you live or at a camp) for safety hazards with the help of an adult. Present your completed checklist to and discuss your findings with your counselor.
Entrepreneurship - Pre-requisites required
- #3 - Identify and interview an individual who has started a business. Learn about this person's educational background, early work experiences, where the idea for the business came from, and what was involved in starting the business. Find out how the entrepreneur raised the capital (money) to start the business, examples of successes and challenges faced, and how the business is currently doing (if applicable). Discuss with your counselor what you have learned.

Public Speaking - Pre-requisites (the following need to be done prior to attending course)
- #2 - Prepare a three- to five-minute talk on a topic of your choice that incorporates body language and visual aids.
- #4 - Select a topic of interest. Collect and organize information about this topic and prepare an outline. Write an 8 to 10 minute speech, practice it.
