Sixteenth Annual YES Boys’ Holiday Party

Who are the YES Boys?

• The YES (Youth Empowerment Services) Shelter is part of the Center for Family Services, and the Shelter houses about 25 boys, ages 11 to 17.
• Some boys come into the shelter with only the clothes on their back.
• Some boys have never received a present in their lives.

What can YOU do to help?

• You and your Pack or Troop can collect Gift Cards and new items (not used items/clothes) to be given as presents for teenage boys.

AND/OR

• You and your Scouts are also welcome to come and teach the YES boys basic Scout skills, like knot-tying, First Aid, outdoor skills, etc.

New items and clothes for teenage boys such as duffel bags, socks, gloves, t-shirts, scarves, earmuffs, underclothes, shoes, stationery make wonderful gifts. New gifts like hooded sweatshirts would be like a dream come true for these boys. When they leave the facility, they have nothing to carry their personal items, except a trash bag, so a new sports bag/suitcase would greatly help. Gift cards to Target or Walmart for $10, $15, or $20 are needed when the boys go shopping, or can be used by the YES adult Staff to buy larger gifts for all the boys.

• New or used PS3, Wii and X Box 360 systems and games (not for mature audiences) would be shared among all the boys.
• New or used table games, e.g., pool table; air hockey table would be a welcome addition, which all the boys could share.
• If you wish, you and your unit can donate pizza, desserts, donation, or other foods for the Holiday Party.
• Or use your keen scouting sense and imagination and come up with your own gift idea.
• Tell your Scouts NOW of your plans to help the YES boys, so the Scouts and their families can begin collecting gifts before the Holiday rush!
