Volunteer Recognition Event

This is the premier event of the year for Garden State Council, Boy Scouts of America. On this one night, the entire Scouting family comes together to celebrate the impact and service of all of our volunteers in the Council, and in particular, those who have made an outstanding impact in 2020. The highlight of the evening is the presentation of the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver award. Also presented will be the Anson Wager and Edward J. Marra awards.

This year, we are offering an in-person dinner with limited seating -- compliant with all current COVID safety guidelines -- as well as a simultaneous remote-viewing option. Dinner and the program will begin at 6:30 pm; an exclusive reception with the award honorees begins on-site at 5:30 pm. The reception is a very limited ticket, so be sure to reserve early!

The Silver Beaver is the highest honor and recognition a volunteer can receive from the local council. Silver Beavers are recognized for their extraordinary volunteer contribution to both Scouting and the community at large. Each year the Council bestows the Silver Beaver to volunteers who serve at the unit, district, and council level and have been nominated by others. This is our Council’s best opportunity to say thanks publicly and passionately to some very special people who do so much for Scouting, their faith community, and the local community…all without receiving a paycheck.

Remote participant ticket: $10 >> Be a part of our Council celebration from your own location.

Remote booster ticket: $55 >> Be a part of our Council celebration from your own location, and sponsor the dinner and reception for one of our award honorees.

Congratulatory Messages to Honorees

Friends, family, fellow Scouters, and business associates: Show your appreciation for this year's honorees with a congratulatory message that will be featured in the program book as well as the digital presentation! Full page/slide: $50, Half-page/half-slide: $25. Look for the Congratulatory Message add-on during checkout and submit final PDF or PNG file to Allison Eckel at the Council office: allison.eckel@scouting.org.

Honoree Registration

If you are receiving the Silver Beaver, Anson Wager Duty to God, or Edward J. Marra Commissioner Service Awards, please contact us before you register! You and one guest are entitled to complimentary registration, and our office is happy to help you with that. Please send the names of the attendees in your party, highlighting your primary dinner guest, to Allison at allison.eckel@scouting.org, and she will have the registration system send you a link to complete your checkout.
