National Jamboree 2023

Join the Council-coordinated contingent and leave the planning to us!

7/19/2023 through 7/28/2023

Attention Scouts BSA Troops, Venturing Crews, and Sea Scout Ships: Garden State Council will be coordinating contingent Troops and Crews to attend the 2023 National Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, West Virginia.

The BSA National Jamboree is a gathering, or jamboree, of thousands of members of the Boy Scouts of America, usually held every four years and organized by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Referred to as “the Jamboree”, “Jambo”, or NSJ, Scouts from all over the nation and world have the opportunity to attend.

Jamborees are considered to be one of several unique experiences that the Boy Scouts of America offers. The first jamboree was scheduled to be held in 1935 in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Scouting, but was delayed two years after being cancelled due to a polio outbreak. The 1937 jamboree in Washington attracted 25,000 Scouts, who camped around the Washington Monument and Tidal Basin.

Visit the Jamboree website to learn more about the activities available to Scouts, then come back here to sign up!

NOTE: For Scouts BSA members, the only way to attend Jamboree as a participant is to register with a Council Contingent. Crews and Ships can attend on their own as a Crew, but you are still welcome to leave the planning to us and join our Council Contingent.

Costs

For participants, the cost is $2000 if you register and start your payment plan by Oct. 31. On Nov. 1 the cost increases to $2,215. We offer a payment plan option if desired. If needed, there is a scholarship program available at Jamboree.Scouting.org/Participants/Scholarships.

Included in the council registration fee:

  • National Jamboree participant fee
  • Transportation to and from Jamboree via motor coach (from Council Service Center)
  • 1 transit meal in each direction (to/from)

Payment Plan

Through the Council's online event registration portal, a $400 deposit will hold your spot in the Council's contingent. The system is set up for monthly payments of $200. Later registrations will require a different payment plan.

Our registration is built to offer you a monthly payment schedule from July 15, 2022  through March 15, 2023, with $400 due at registration and $200 due per month for each month after that. Late payments may incur an additional fee. Payments can also be made at the Scout Shop, Scout Office, or by check and we will apply these payments to your payment plan.

This is a non-refundable event, but registrations can be transferred to another participant.
