Burlington County Farm Fair

The Burlington County Farm Fair is an annual event held at the Burlington County Fairgrounds in Columbus, NJ. The dates for this year’s fair are Tuesday, July 21 – 25, 2026. The hours are 2 pm to 10 pm daily.
The Scouting America Garden State Council has for multiple years been a vendor at the fair. The funds raised by Garden State Council are to support the programs and services of the Council to the youth and leaders throughout southern New Jersey. The council has for the last two years set up an information section to promote, engage, and recruit young people and adults to join Scouting.
WHO: We are asking scouts and leaders of troops and crews to support this endeavor by volunteering to prepare and serve food items and assist in promoting and engaging youth and adults to join Scouting.
WHAT: We are asking scouts and leaders to man the Garden State Council food vendor area and the membership recruitment area during the time the fair is open. We also need assistance in setting up and taking down our area. Specific volunteers’ positions listed under HOW.
WHEN: Your participation is flexible.
The dates and specific tasks are:
Thursday, July 16th – Packing equipment and supplies at both the Rowan Training Center Westampton, NJ and Pine Tree Center, Tabernacle, NJ. @ 9 am – 3 pm.
Sunday, July 19th – Transporting and setting up our area at the fairgrounds, Columbus, NJ. @ 9 am – 3 pm.
Monday, July 20th – Continue to set up our area at the fairgrounds, Columbus, NJ @ 9 am – 3 pm.
Tuesday, July 21st – Prepare to open and operate the areas. Three shifts available – 1 pm to 5 pm, 4 pm to 8 pm, 6 pm to 11 pm
Wednesday, July 22nd – Operate the areas. Three shifts available. Same as Tuesday.
Thursday, July 23rd - Operate the areas. Four shifts available. 9 am to 2 pm, 1 pm to 5 pm, 4 pm to 8 pm, and 6 pm to 11 pm.
Friday, July 24th - Operate the areas. Three shifts available. Same as Tuesday.
Saturday, July 25th - Operate the areas. Four shifts available. 11 am to 2 pm, 1 pm to 5 pm, 4 pm to 8 pm, and 6 pm to 11 pm.
Sunday, July 26th – Taking down the areas, transporting to both Rowan Training Center and Pine Tree Center. @9 am – 3 pm.

HOW:
Volunteer to help pack and transport equipment and supplies to the fairgrounds – Adults and Older youth.
Volunteer to help set up and/or take down and transport equipment back to Rowan Training Center and Pine Tree Center. Adults and Older youth.
Volunteer positions during the fair -Youth (Y) 11 17 years old, Adult 18+ (A):
Counter Help (Y) - Individuals who take food orders from the customers and help with processing their payment.
Server (Y/A) – Individuals who put the hot dogs, hamburgers, funnel cakes, together.
Cashiers (A) - Individuals who process the payments and manage the money.
Grill Worker (A) - Individuals who cook the food, make the funnel cake (must be 18 years or older).
Fryer Worker (A) – Individuals who fries the funnel cake (must be 18 years or older).
Dishwasher (A) - Individuals who clean the dish/pots and assist with cleaning up.
Funnel Cake Batter Maker (A) - Individuals who prepare the funnel cake batter.
Greeter / Recruiter (A) – Adult who greets youth and their parents into the membership area and helps parents sign up for Scouting.
Scout Guide (Y) – Scouts helping with the activities in the membership area.
What do I need to bring to the Farm Fairground:
Check the weather report prior to attending to determine what to wear.
Activity shirt
Hat
Water bottle
Sunscreen
Comfortable closed toe shoes
Cooling Towels (optional)
Parking Passes:
The Farm Fair Association issues a limited number of parking passes to each vendor. One leader per troop or crew will request parking passes for their unit and will be responsible for distribution to their drivers who will be carpooling their members. Units must carpool to the fairground. Individuals and adults who decide to come on their own will need to park in the farm fair visitors lot and pay the parking fee. No parking passes will be issued at the fairground.
