Wilderness First Aid Training

Wilderness First Aid Training at Pine Hill Scout Reservation
Training Dates: May 2 and May 16
Location: Pine Hill Scout Reservation
Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is an essential skillset for anyone who leads outdoor adventures, participates in highadventure programs, or simply wants to be better prepared when medical help isn’t immediately available. This spring, we’re offering a comprehensive, handson WFA certification course designed to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to handle emergencies in remote settings.
Across two engaging days of instruction—May 2 and May 16—participants will learn how to assess, respond to, and manage a range of outdoor medical situations when help may be delayed or conditions are challenging. The course blends classroom instruction with realistic scenarios, giving you the chance to practice skills such as:
- Patient assessment and emergency response
- Wound care, splinting, and bleeding control
- Identifying and treating shock, hypothermia, heat-related illnesses
- Managing musculoskeletal injuries
- Handling environmental challenges like bites, stings, altitude issues, and weather-related risks
- Evacuation decisionmaking and long-term patient care
Whether you’re a Scout leader, outdoor educator, or avid trekker, WFA training provides critical skills that enhance safety and preparedness for every adventure. Upon completion, participants will receive official Wilderness First Aid certification—required for many BSA highadventure bases and highly recommended for all outdoor program leaders.
Join us at Pine Hill Scout Reservation for a practical, engaging, and confidencebuilding experience that empowers you to keep yourself and others safe in the backcountry.
Cost of the training is $90
