Governor’s Square Mall - 10AM
$10 per car
From a block of wood, four plastic wheels, and four nails, a Scout produces a vehicle that can reach 20 mph!
Get your engines ready for the 2026 Suwannee River Area Council Pinewood Derby, the ultimate showdown of speed and creativity taking place on Saturday, May 9, at the Governor's Square Mall (Dillard's Wing). This is your Scout's chance to compete for the prestigious "Champion's Cup" or display their artistic side in the Show Car categories, but remember—participants must choose to enter either a Race Car or a Show Car, not both. Registration is strictly online and closes firmly on May 7; no walk-ins or payments will be accepted on race day, so you must secure your $10 spot in advance. To ensure a fair race, all cars must be built from the official BSA kits using only dry lubricants (no washers or bearings allowed!) and no axle modifications are allowed except sanding to remove burs. Scouts are highly encouraged to wear their Class A uniforms to represent the values of sportsmanship at this public event.

Key Rules & "Must-Knows" for Parents
Strict Deadline: Registration ends at 11:59 PM on Thursday, May 7. If you miss it, you cannot race.
The "Official" Rule: You must use the official BSA Grand Prix Pinewood Derby kits (available at the Scout Shop). Cars made from "hobby store" kits or pre-cut online kits will be disqualified.
One Car, One Category: Scouts cannot race a car and also enter it in the "Show" category. You have to pick one lane.
Dry Lube Only / Axle Sanding Only: Do not use liquid lubricants or anything that stays wet. Graphite or other powdered dry lubes are the standard. No axle modifications are allowed except sanding to remove burs.
Staggered Schedule: You do not need to be there all day! Races are scheduled by Rank (e.g., Arrow of Light checks in at 10:00 AM, Lions at 12:30 PM). Check the schedule in the guide to find your specific time slot.
The Champion's Cup: If your racer finishes 1st in their Rank, they qualify for the final "Champion's Cup" race at the end of the day. If they do not check in at 4:00 PM, they will forfeit their spot.
